Pretty boy
Just a bit of random: Baby J is doing well; he has TWO teeth now, which is just amazing to me. He still smiles ALL the time, but now he thinks it is HILL-LAR-EE-US when I sing to him. He especially likes Hava Nagila (which I don't know the words to, so I just sing the melody) and the theme from the Lone Ranger, which goes really well with his cowboy-themed Jumperoo.
He is also rebelling against afternoon naptime and bedtime. Now, he sometimes stays up for 2-3 hours past bedtime, even when we go through the whole routine. He get a bath, then jammies, story, and a bottle, and STILL insists he isn't going to sleep just yet. I don't know what prompted this, and to make it more perplexing, he still has days where he is spot-on with the routine and konked out at 6:30 on the dot.
Next week I start working from home, scoring standarized tests again. This will be interesting, to see how successful I can be with a baby and a job that requires so much focused concentration. I'm gonna give it my best shot, because it's probably the only way I can stay home and make money and the same time.
I looked into child care options, well, only 2 so far. The daycare chain Tutor Time wanted 1380/mo for Jensen. I nearly choked. The other place is run by the woman who runs the Sunday nursery at church, and I thought it would be ideal that Jensen could be somewhere that he already knew someone. However, she said that the waiting list is so long, that he wouldn't get in by Sept for me to go back to work...sigh. So, I'll regroup and try to find some other places nearby that I feel like I can trust with my little one and aren't going to make me go broke.

Whoa... even the church has a waiting list? I know my sister-in-law loves the Mommy's Day Out program at her church, but I guess Texas is crawling with similar programs. Hope you have good luck finding a suitable one in NYC! Be well!
Actually, the woman who runs the nursery for the church on Sunday is the director for a separate facility. Her place is actually subsidized by the state, and is supposed to move state employees to the front of the list, hence, the long wait. The church itself has a preschool program, but Jensen won't be old enough for that until he's 2. So, still thinking about what to do. Thanks for reading and taking the time to actually post a comment! You're the best!
