Bubbles and paper

Whew! I just got done unwrapping about 10 boxes of stuff-what I'd left behind in Texas from last summer. There's a lot more than I expected, but it feels really nice to have my dishes and my family photos.

I still have a lot to do now that everything is technically "unpacked." Finding a place for everything is going to take a few days, and I want to at least rinse the dishes really well before I put them in the cabinet.

Time has been going exceptionally fast this summer. I chose not to get a summer job, but I've been very busy. Michael rescued a small kitten (now 8 weeks), so I've been helping raise it to the point where it doesn't have to be locked in his Dad's kitchen anymore.

We've also been spending more time with his father and beginning to fix up the house a bit, since it still has the 1970's wallpaper and such.

Finally, his daughter has been visiting from NJ, too. She's been staying with them at his Dad's for 2 weeks now, and I've been hanging out with them a lot. She's 8, so she is very energetic and always wanting to know "what we're gonna do next." I do enjoy spending time with them, and I'm glad we're getting to be friends.

Michael and I leave on our cruise in about 2 weeks and we're both excited about going to Mexico and getting to ride horses along the beach and go off-roading in a Land Rover. The "field trips" they offer on the ship are really spectacular, and I know we're going to be busy the whole time!

Trippin'

Well, I got back from my first cruise a few days ago. I had a great time! My friend and I went jetskiing in the Bahamas, sung along with an old Irish guy at the piano, and I drank enough to come home with a new martini set. All in all, a fantastic trip!

Now that I'm back, I'm already on to other things. I have one more day of my summer class, and since I didn't do so hot on the last test, I'm going to spend a big chunk of the day writing a paper (however, it's on the origin of my name, so that's actually pretty cool!)

In animal news, my two boys are not nearly so boyish anymore. They went to the vet on Friday...

Also, Michael seems to have found a relative. A little grey kitty, 6 weeks old. His dad is taking care of it for the moment, until it Michael takes it to his daughter in NJ on Friday.

Finally, I am taking my first solo expedition driving in NY. I'm only going around in Queens, but driving here is really, really different than at home, so I'm a little nervous. And there's parallel parking to deal with (again, much different than in driver's ed, where you park between two orange cones!) Anyway, the lure of being able to go to Target, Staples and the grocery store with a place to actually PUT the things I've bought was just too much to resist. So, wish me luck!
