Moving forward

Well, in a way, the hard part is over. For those of you who live in Texas, if you drive past the Leander property, which for so long was known to us as "the other house" you will see a big 'ol

FOR SALE

sign.

The listing agent said he has never seen so much "activity" on a property. They've gotten 15 calls since Saturday. I'm really hoping that everything will be on its way soon and I can start finally putting myself in order.

School is okay. Well, really, it's not. The kids are rude and loud and have no care for their own education. What can I do?

Master's classes are okay. This time I'm being honest. I actually do enjoy my writing class and have been writing and sharing and revising and editing papers almost constantly. It makes me think that maybe I do have a book or 2 in me.

Michael and I are okay. I guess we could be better. (He would be upset if he knew I was confessing on the blog, but...) School is taking a toll on both of us. He is working 2 jobs (being a Dean and running a fitness center), setting up for a 3rd (coaching wrestling) and just applied for a 4th (teaching on Saturdays). Needless to say, we are both exhausted all the time and have started to kind of take it out on each other when we finally get a chance to be alone. I've also applied for the Saturday program, which will hopefully help stave off some of my financial woes until the house and car get sold.

The best part of everything right now is that the kitties are great! They are super cute and already such a part of the family. The Girls are treating them more like their own kittens and being quite motherly to them (including a smack in the head when warranted).

Can't wait to have better news. Much love to all.

Boys and Girls

I am sooo ready for the weekend! I know it seems great having off during the week, but then, you get that "feels like Monday" feeling more than once. This week, I had 2 days off, but also had to go through "Monday syndrome" twice with my students. Oh well. The week is over, and I'm going to use this weekend to really get organized.

I've finally gotten to teach a book I really like. Part of my required program is to read aloud to the kids. Every day. No matter what. So I figured it might as well be something I enjoy. So, we're about half way through The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Next, we're doing a unit on Ray Bradbury. Wow, first a book with Christian undertones (not that I can say that in my classroom) and then a book about how valuable books are (Farenheit 451)? What will come next? Actual learning? I am amazed.

Okay, so finally, about The Boys and The Girls...I just bought them the cutest set of dishes! Each set comes with 3 ceramic bowls and a matching ceramic tray, so I got 2 sets. Now each kitty has his or her own bowl and each set of kids (girls and boys) has a water dish to share.

I am anxious to start my weekend, so I'm going to head out now. Hope everyone is well!

Fine

A friend of mine called me while I was in my Master's class last night, and when I checked my voicemail, I was actually quite surprised to hear her say she was checking in to make sure I was all right, with the new threats to the NYC subway system. To be honest, I had not heard or seen anything about it (although I have now and am up to date). But, yes, if you're wondering, I'm fine. As of yet, nothing bad has happened, although I read that the police actually shut down a part of Penn Station (that's right underneath Madison Square Garden and Macy's, the world's largest department store- 10 floors!).

Other than that, I am looking forward to my 3 day weekend, as I'm sure everyone else is. I need so badly to get organized...my house and my lessons are screwy right now and I can't find anything! The kittens are extremely helpful and make sure they "re-file" anything that I might put aside to look at later.

Their favorite filing place is under the couch.

Anyway, I am just tired and a little bitchy, so I won't blog anymore now. I want to try and pretend that I'm having a good day so I can talk myself out of my bad mood.

2 days off

I have been trying diligently to add photos of my new little additions, but the nanny program has not actually been totally lifted, just re-adjusted. None of the upload tools will work. Hopefully I'll be able to get on another computer soon so I can show everyone my new babies.

Besides that, I am off for 2 days (gotta love those Jewish holidays!) and will be relaxing until returning to school on Thursday. Hope everyone is well!
