Treading water

Ah, a 3-day weekend. I have much to do so I can enjoy the rest of my life. Haha.

Still trying to get everything washed, put away and organized.

I have about a week before I start what is hopefully my last class before I get my degree. Until then, I'm pretty much just treading water, going through the last few weeks of the school year and helping Michael with his non-profit stuff.

I got my first set of cruise papers in the mail yesterday. Just a few more weeks and I'll be in the Bahamas!! YAY!!

Really, really hoping to have my home in order by then. I'm pretty sure Michael will be staying here to take care of the "kids," but if I needed to ask someone else to check on them, I'd be really embarrassed to have someone else in the house looking like is it.

Can't wait until the craziness of working and going to school is over. When I'm finally done, it'll have been 2 years of this!! Enough, already!

I want my life back!! :)

Potter-ed out

I am soooo tired! This past week has been full of activity.

Mon was preparing for class. Tues and Wed WAS class. Thur was an event with Michael. Fri was running errands. Saturday was doing the memory book for the Harry Potter Club. (That took ALL day.) And today was more running around. We went out to brunch, then to Target, Staples, Sprint and the grocery store. Too much!!

Now it's already Sunday night, and another full week of school ahead of me! Yawn! I am tired just thinking about it!

Surfin' for a Cruise

Ah, it is almost the end of the school year. I can hear the collective sighs of teachers and children everywhere...

I, myself, am currently surfing the net for the best vacation deals, as I have a few possibilities in mind.

First, my teacher-friend Janice and I are planning a short excursion as a celebration, both for the close of the school year and her long-awaited move to New Mexico. She grew up in NY (although not in the city) and is anxious to go somewhere it is warm and sunny year round, and, since she is not yet 70 (haha) she didn't want to go to Florida just yet.

Secondly is the choice whether or not to make going to Texas a once-a-year-thing. Of course, I'd love to see my nieces and nephew (I haven't even MET Emma, and she's already about 8 months old!) But the tally of friends I'm close too is relatively few. Going to Austin has a high airfare and I'd have to rent a car and stay in a hotel. Still, it would be nice to go for the first time having nothing that HAD to get done. Keeping up with my wonderful friends who have helped me through so much is still a high priority.

Finally, after fantastic trips both to Canada (eh) and Las Vegas, Michael and I are also thinking about booking a cruise. Only we're planning to go to Mexico, with stops at Princess Cays and Jamaica and St. Martin on the way.

I feel so lucky right now...it's so exciting to really be traveling and planning future trips!!

Only about 35 more days til freedom!

Two seventeen

I have been in a slump lately.

I have had good intentions to do things and be productive, but this last week has not been so fantastic.

Last week was pretty good, however. I finally painted the bedroom. It's now a beautiful, calming, minty color. I also hung the artwork I got framed several months ago. And, I put in the bedside tables I bought that go with my shelves and dresser. Overall, I am pretty pleased with that.

On the other hand, this week is major in terms of college, and I have a major presentation and paper due, and another paper due next week. That means that almost all of my FLYing has been put aside, and I'm not even that good at my routines yet, so pretty much everything is falling apart at home.

There is some good news, though. Next week is the last week for Spring semester, so I have the last 2 weeks of May, including the long weekend, to get things in order before Summer (my last class at Queens College!!!) begins.

Then, I will be focusing on coming straight home and doing my 15 minutes and catching up with laundry and everything else. I am anxious for my apartment to feel more like a home instead of a place I dump all my stuff and go to sleep.

Totally unrelated note, Beckham is such a goofy boy! He is literally hanging over the support cross-section of one of the dining chairs that is being stored upside-down. (I know, this is hard to visualize. I'll post a picture next time I get on.) Anyway, he's just...hanging. His little paws are shaking to help him keep his balance while he's sleeping. Too cute!! With that, I think I need to take my little boy to bed.
