not quite

Still feeling a little icky. Mainly it's my throat...I haven't had much of a voice since last Friday. That makes it really difficult to calm a group of 30 inner-city eighth graders, but I'm doing the best I can.

Grades are coming due on Friday, so we're closing up the first marking period and getting ready for the time change and calendar change. Next week I'll also be starting the school drama club. It would be interesting to give it an actual name...our mascot is the Eagle. Any suggestions?

Besides that, school has been good for my weight loss. I've dropped about 10 pounds since I was last home, and before getting sick, was actually starting to feel like I had a little more energy. The girls, on the other hand, are getting slightly tubby. Syd is checking in at around 16 pounds and Lena has reached a whooping 18 pounds! (Try having those 18 pounds jumping on your chest to say "Good Morning!" Wow, she knocks the breath right out of me!)

Finally, I have only another week before I'll be back in Texas to get those all-important Administration papers. Coming in Thursday evening, staying Friday and leaving early Saturday afternoon. And that weekend is when Sarah is breaking out on her own and moving into her new digs!

So, lots of changes, lots of stuff going on....hope everyone is well.

tremors and chills

No, unfortunately, this is not a Halloween message. I'm sick yet again, and this time, it's really bad. I've got it all-chills, sweats, sore throat, cough, aches and pains, and shortness of breath. I have no idea where this came from. I was fine yesterday morning when I woke up, and by eigth period, I had to sit down while presenting my lessons because I really though I might pass out if I continued to stand.

Maybe it will go as quickly as it came....

Thankful

Bonnie just called, and she's found my mother's engagement ring!

There was a box of stuff to be donated sitting outside the office, and she said that the box somehow got dumped over. She started looking through everything and the ring was in there. I am so relieved and grateful that I haven't lost this special piece of my mom.

Bonnie still hasn't come upon my lily ring, but now there's definite hope!

Yay for cable!

Technology is amazing! For the first time, after two whole years in NYC, I finally got high-speed internet and cable. I have been having the best veg-out day in such a long time!

On a totally unrelated note, my school made the Daily News last week. I knew it was a tough place, but according to the research in this article, I am officially teaching at one of the lowest of the low. (I would link to the article, but you'd have to pay to download the text from the Daily News, and I didn't think any of you would want to do that.)

On the up side of that, at least I know what I'm facing, and the kids haven't made me quit yet.

clean slate

Okay, so you've probably noticed that things on the the 'ol blog are a bit different.

Let's just say, ahem, a certain person was irritated at my blatant honesty and decided to try and make it disappear by accessing my blog and my "lily" email account and wiping them clean.

Since then, I've changed my passwords and hope this is really the end of all the madness. I have access to both my email and blog again and am looking forward to emotionally getting away from the crazies.

On another note, Mom's funeral is this weekend in Virginia, so I'll be pretty much out of reach until Monday. (I didn't even get cell service the last time I was there...it's in the middle of a mountian range.)

Love to all from me and the girls.
